SAP SMTP INBOUND CONFIGURATION

Former Member

Trying to understand the SAP SMTP configuration

Assume we have one single instance

PRD

Three clients inside it which are to receive inbound mails

PRD 100

PRD 101

PRD 102

As  prerequisite i have to set certain profile parameters(icm/server/port etc.)

Which client do i log into to set these parameters??

Will i log into any one of the 3 clients and execute rz10??

Will that reflect in the remaining two??

or do i log onto the golden client??

kindly assist

Regards,

Abhishek Gupta

Hello Abhishek,

The parameter is client independent, so setting in one client reflects in all clients. You would need to restart SAP for changes to reflect.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot Anita

I got it

i simply login to any of the mentioned three clients to make the changes

Restarting SAP would reflect the same in all the clients

Could you help me with one more thing ?

I have maintained the following profile parameters:

Profile parameter configuration:

icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=1080

icm/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTPS,PORT=1443

icm/server_port_2 = PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000,TIMEOUT=180

icm/server_port_3 = PROT=SMTP,PORT=25001,TIMEOUT=180

icm/server_port_4=PROT=SMTP,PORT=25002,TIMEOUT=180

is/SMTP/virt_host_0 = *:25000;

is/SMTP/virt_host_1 = *:25001;

is/SMTP/virt_host_2= *:25002;

(3 virtual hosts each for three clients which are to receive incoming mails.

Independent of the host at different ports)

rdisp/icman_start is set to true

Would these suffice??

I mean is the concept/logic correct??

Abhishek

Hello Abhishek,

Looks good to me. Assuming you're on Unix.

SMTP Configuration Guide - SAPconnect (BC-SRV-COM) - SAP Library

Thanks.
