Do semantic controls support class="sapUiSizeCompact"?

I've tested to add sapUiSizeCompact to semantic:MasterPage and semantic:Detail controls but it does not seam to have any effect. Do the semantic controls support the class sapUiSizeCompact?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
