Hi Team,

We are Installing SAP NW 7.4 on Windows 2012 HA Environment with Sybase as

Database. We got stuck at Virtual Hostname.

CI Server Name is called eccci

DB Node is Called eccdb

Network Team created Virtual Hostnames & IP address

CI Node saperpprd

DB Node sapdberpprd

We have Maintained these ips & hostnames in Drivers/etc Hostfile. What is the virtual hostname we need give.

Please suggest me.

Regards

Naveen

Hi Naveen,

As per my understanding your CI and DB server node name is as below .

CI Server Name is called eccci

DB Node is Called eccdb

and Virtual name is below

CI Node saperpprd

DB Node sapdberpprd

In the network name you have put saperpprd , for virtual node no need to maintain the drivers host file entry ,Please maintain the entry in the domain controller.

For SAP Netweaver 7.x on Windows Failover Clusters configurations

1. there is no CI instance

2. there is no dedicated CI Node

3. there is no dedicated DB Node.

follow the documentation or ask someone who is familiar with HA configurations - otherwise you will see everything except HA!

Hi Naveen.

From the screen shot you may selected the worn network card. You can check with your network team which NIC is having public address? in my view you have to select the "Cluster Network 1"

& Cluster Network 2 used for heardbeat.

in HA Installations on Windows Failover Clusters you can't use virtual hostnames as described in note 1564275 - this is explicit mentioned in the note!

Windows Failover Clusters Basics!

Refer to Microsoft's documentation and guidlines - even better, ask a consultant with sufficient Windows Failover Cluster knowledge for assistance.

HA-Configurations are too sensitive for novices.

kind regards
