Hi SCN,
We are currently experiencing an error message of 'while trying to invoke the method com.sap.hilo.datasource.unv.external.ResultObject.getName() of a null object loaded from local variable obj' when trying to use a particular universe in Lumira 1.29.3. For example, upon trying to refresh a Lumira visualization built upon this universe, Lumira prompts with the data mapping dialog and asks us to edit the query to update the data source.
Then regardless of the objects, even if we reduce it to only one measure or dimension, it results in this error:
This universe was working properly in Lumira when we were on BOBI 4.1 SP4 but appears to no longer allow us to use it as of 4.1 SP7. This universe error however does not occur in WebIntelligence though.
Please advise on what we can do to help resolve this, much appreciated!
Hello Will,
A couple things to check:
1) Are you acquiring data from a UNV or UNX universe?
2) If UNX, did you download the SAP Universe Query Panel extension from File -> Extensions menu? This will create a new option in New Document dialog called "SAP Universe Query Panel", which is compatible with UNX. Do not use the New Document -> Universe option to acquire data from a UNX universe, it is only compatible with UNV.

Alan

Hi Alan,
1) We are acquiring data from a UNX universe. This is why the UNV specified in the error is strange.
2) No, we did not have SAP Universe Query Panel installed. Upon installing it, it appears we are able to properly create Lumira documents using that universe. Thanks for the timely help!
Would it be possible then to edit or convert the existing Lumira file so that we do not have to rebuild it?
Regards,
Will
Hi Alan,
Okay, thanks again for the response.
However, we appear to still be running into the first error message about 'In order to continue, the query to the data source needs to be updated.'. After creating a new document through the panel and saving it to our SAP BI Platform, we tried to re-open it and refresh the data with prompts only to run into that error message.
Let us know how else we can help to resolve this.
Regards,
Will
Hi Alan,
Yes, this was an error on our end so thanks for the help again.
For the sake of completeness though, we have ran into this data acquisition error of 'Could not create extension data source engine' when attempting to add any measures and dimensions from that particular universe. Since there is a pattern of universe related issues, are there certain best practices with universes that we should be following as well to mitigate these errors?
Regards,
Will
Hi Will,
did you find a solution on issue: "could not create extension data source engine"?
I'm in the same situation, I've a UNV universe and I want to migrate to UNX and using with Lumira.
Conversion (apparently) goes right, but neither Lumira and WEBI works with it when I use objects with filter or list of values.
Here the error message from Lumira desktop when launch query from query panel:
Here the error on the same universe from WEBI:
Landscape:
Lumira server for BI Platform 1.30; Client side is the same version.
BO 4.1 SP4 and now 4.1 SP7 (both server and information design tool) tryied.
Best regards.
Andrea
