Slow process Dimension when using Member Formula.

Hi,

When I create a Member Formula and then try to process the dimension, the process dimension is very long...over 1 hours, normally without Member Formula it takes 2 minutes.

If I look the job details in SM37, I can see that the validation of the Member Formula step  take a lot of time...almost all the full hour.

The member Formula is very simple, and this happen in our QA system only, not in PROD.

Our BASIS group didn't find anything wrong in QA.

Anyone has an idea why we are facing this performance issue ???

We are on versions:

BPC v10 with EPM 22

CPBBPC 801 SP12

NEW 7.31  SP17

HANA v97

- How long it takes to validate the formula in ADMINISTRATION > Rules > Member Formulas?

- Can you please attach the screenshot that show us the job details in SM37?

Hi,

Here is my SM37 log,  this time it took 40 minutes. In PROD it take 2 minutes.

Actually, I can't attached the log....COPY-PASTE does work here.

In the log, almost the total of 40 minutes is on that line  -->  "Start validating member formulas"

In the Web-Admin, it takes 2-3 minutes to create and validate the new member formula.

I suggest you monitor the work process(SM50) when running "Start validating member formulas"

so that we could know where the program is stuck, you can attach a screenshot here.

Hi,

Here's the log of SM50 when I ran the process dimension.

It stuck 38 minutes on the job CL_UJHANA_MODEL_FORMULA_HELPERCP.

If I removed the Member Formula, then the process dimension took 2 minutes.

You mentioned that it is working fine on PRD,

so can you please provide the following:

- Is HANA MDX enabled on both QA and PRD

- Is shared memory enabled on both QA and PRD? (see note 1657612)

hi,

Yes , ENABLED_SHARED_OBJECT is enabled in QA & PRD.

and MDX_ON_HANA is not enabled in both.

I know this is happening on your QA only, but can you disable ENABLED_SHARED_OBJECT on QA and then try again. Also, I suggest you create an OSS message about this.
