IQ License Key for Teamed NIC

Former Member

Hi Guys,

We are going to enable NIC teaming on a Windows host. Mac-address of the Virtual NIC may change in case of fail-over. Since IQ license keys are tied to single mac-address, how do I get around the issue?

We run 5 nodes multiplex.

Typically, SYSAM ties the license to eth0.  Would the physical MAC for eth0 change?

Alternatively, you should be able to use a served model.  In this case, you only need the eth0 MAC for the SYSAM server, not for each IQ node.  This may get you around the issue.

Unrelated to licensing, but related here, MPX uses raw IP addresses by default.  Make sure that you tie your nodes to the virtual names and virtual IP for each node so that you don't run into a situation where a node shuts down if the IP address changes.

Thanks Mark. My network team is saying that primary NIC can change with every reboot for eth0 to eth1 if both are part of a team.

How do I use served licensing model? I have never done it before.

Check out the SYSAM manual.  This is for SYSAM 2.3 which is the latest:
