Hardware migration + OS upgrade + DB upgrade + EHP7 to EHP8 upgrade

Hi, We are in below SAP version OS  Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002 DB      Database SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 4 (SP4) 10.00.6000 SAP    SAP Netweaver KERNEL 7.42 64-BIT (Patch: 100, Non-Unicode) SAP ECC SAP ECC EHP7 SP5 We want the target environment WINDOWS SRV 2012 R2/X64 64BIT MS SQL SERVER 2014/X86_64 SAP Netweaver KERNEL 7.5 64-BIT (Latest) (Unicode) SAP ECC EHP8 SP2 (April release) can we do in open step OR we need to do hardware migration with new OS DB and upgrade from EHP7 to EHP8 Thanks

Hi Suganthi,

you need to separate the Unicode conversion from the Upgrade - it is not possible to do both in one step (see SAP note 1322715 - point 6). However you can combine an OS/DB migration with a Unicode conversion.

Hi Suganthi.

You have to perform two steps.

1. First you can migrate the New hardware  OS - Windows 2012 with MS Sql 2012 using SAP Homogeneous system copy method.

2. Start the upgrade from SAP ERP6 EHP 7 to EHP 8.

For both you have to refer the SAP System copy guide & Upgrade guide. Refer the SAP link
