Solved: SAP installation stuck with SP2-1503 :Unable to in...

Hi All,

Currently I am trying to install SAP NW 7.00 SR3 system with Oracle database 10.2 as part of preparation to migration/upgrade to EHP7 version.

Facing issue during sapinst during Performing ORA post load activities

SP2-1503 : Unable to initailize Oracle Call Interface

SP2-0152 : Oracle may not be functioning properly

Few observation:

1. sqlplus working fine with ORA<SID> and <SID>adm

2. R3trans -d call successful

1. Could you share the log file attachment "ora_sql_results.log"

2. Check the SAP Note for the error message " CJS-00084"

Hi SS,

Right now , I am using Database version 10.2.0.1 and Oracle client 11.2.0.4 V3. As SWPM doesn't support SAP Kernel below 7.20 , so I have to go with SAP Kernel 7.21 Ext.

Initially , started sapinst with Oracle client 10.2 only but during import ABAP phase R3load executable was looking for file libclntsh.so.11.1 which was part of Oracle client 11.2.0.4. Before putting new client , checked the compatibility and found it downward compatible.

I have tried again by stopping oracle database and listener , putting client back to 10202 but still same issue.

Just do the full system restart and then try again in the same phase.

Any specific reason that you are using Oracle Database version 10.2.0.1 and have not upgraded Patch Set?

Also have you followed SAP Installation Guide regarding Oracle 10g installation?

Hi Manisha,

As part of homogenous migration of system , there was requirement to have system with legacy environment, so that we can restore from existing database backup which is on Oracle 10g.

Thanks for guiding.

Steps taken:

1. Started installation again with Oracle RDBMS package 10g and client 10.2.

2. During import ABAP phase , where R3load requires oracle client 11 , created softlink for libclntsh.so.11.1 to libclntsh.so.10.1

3. Installation finished without any further big issues, few permission issues came.
