Serial number-Non mandatory for return material

Hi,

I am new to Serialization.

I assigned as serial number profile.I did not add return delivery to the profile.

We have a scenario were the shipment gets lost so we need to provide credit memo for Customer.

Return Order--->CM--->Return delivery.

During return delivery the system,throws error message to maintain serial number.

So i have maintained return delivery-SDRE to the serial number profile.

After return delivery if i do 453 movement type then it says status of serial number to be-ESTO (available at site) .

The reason why i do return delivery is client wants to offset COGS.Is there any possibility that i can avoid serial number number during return delivery.

Is that any alteration with in completion procedure will hep.
