Running SUM on an isolated server

Hello,

We have a virtual environment for our SAP systems.  As part of this I'm wanting to upgrade a system but prior to 'doing it for real' I wanted to run through SUM on the server so our network team has provided me with a clone that has no network connection, so it can't talk to any other systems and update anything it shouldn't.

I ran SUM up (SP16) but it won't get any further than the step Common System Detect where it says:

java.lang.Exception: No network addresses detected

My question is.  Is it possible to get SUM to work in this situation ?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

As far as I understand, SUM tries to read the information through sapcontrol programs with http / https connections. Can you please eloborate what does "No network connection" mean?

Is your SAP System up and running and listening on some ports in the isolated server?

Even for running SAP application you need some kind of network or loopback adapter.

Thanks,

Jagadish.
