Auto Putaway to Bin DUMMY without putaway strategy

Hi,

We have a requirement where we upon GR we need to have an Open TO with Destination Storage Bin as DUMMY and upon TO confirmation we can change the destination Bin

Now, we don't have any Putaway strategy activated, which means manual putaway for the storage type and TO but we don't want to enter any Storage Bin when TO is created

Solution we have thought of and problems in them:(currently only one Storage type in the Warehouse)

1. No Putaway strategy - We can maintain the destination as DUMMY in the movement type (101/103), but then on TO confirmation we cannot change the Destination Bin

2. We define the putaway strategy as Open Storage and define storage section 001 , 002 and have this sequence in Storage Sec search

    Bin DUMMY will have Storage Section as 001 and actual bin will have 002, so on every GR stock goes to DUMMY and on TO confirmation we can change the Destination bin based on config from Storage type

Problem: There is a possibility to have multiple Storage Types in future, so Point 2 will have a problem as stock will always go to this Storage Type since its Open Storage

Is there a solution to solve where we need the TO to be created with Destination Bin as DUMMY and which can be changed on TO confirmation

Solution that we will use

1. Define 1 Storage Type ABC

2. Define Multiple Storage Sections

3. Activate Storage Section search active in Storage Type

3. Define search strategy for Storage Type and Storage Sections (001, 002)

4. Define Putaway strategy as OPEN

5. Assign Bin DUMMY to Storage Section 001

6. Assign all other Bins to Storage Section 002

At GR, system will create a TO and print the label (OMLV) settings, The Label will have Storage Bin as DUMMY. On TO confirmation user then changes the Destination Bin from DUMMY to Warehouse Bin

I see flaw in this solution;

1) this solution will work if you have single storage type, what will happen if you have multiple storage types and you want to put in different storage type based on storage type indicator? will you create multiple sections in each storage type and DUMMY bin in one section?

2) what if you want to have internal movement when you have multiple storage types, for this storage type does not you think system will always put material in DUMMY bin from section 001?

for me this is not futuristic solution, but if you are not planning to expand storage types then its ok to have this solution

Hi,

• We will have only have one storage type in the warehouse with Open Storage

• Other than goods receipt, user will always do manual movements/putaway

you do not need to have storage bin= DUMMY as destination always and also no need to specify any destination bin in 101/103, as his will create problem once you opt for multiple storage type.

Just use the option 'destination bin can be changed during confirmation' available in 'define storage type' node. Let system propose bin which you can change while TO confirmation

Hi,

The Option "destination bin can be changed during confirmation" is already active for the storage type

The problem we face is since we have TO label printed on TO creation with the destination Bin and we use this label to scan the barcode of the TO number for TO confirmation

Now if I allow to print any storage bin as per the system strategy, it does not satisfy the requirement as the user can get confused on the Storage Bin to do the final TO confirmation

We need to identify a solution where the Bin displayed on the TO label is blank or dummy and then on TO confirmation the user chooses which Bin he wants to move

(we dont want to change the design of the label as it is being used in other Plants)

I also faced same problem during one of my implementation, but we went ahead with having system proposed bin on pallet label and change the bin during confirmation and user either cross the bin with marker or keep it as it is.

In your case, if you do not want to print bin pallet label that you can achieve through making changes to script or smartform which you are using.

During storage type configuration you can set the indicator "Dst BIN CAN BE CHANGED DURING CONFIGURATION" explore that option , This setting is just below the putaway strategy setting in storage type

This option is already activated. We need to identify a solution where by we have a dummy storage bin on the TO label which is printed on TO creation ad then on TO confirmation the Bin is changed

On every TO, this Bin should be printed which can be modified
