Document reversal for material having serial number activation

Dear Gurus,

I am facing issue –

I have one material for which serial number as well QM is activated. I have made GR against Production Order.

It is also cleared from quality. Now I want to change the serial number for same material.

It can be possible to achieve it after reversing the document and again need to post with required serial no.,

But once you done UD, Inspection lot cannot be reversed. As per my knowledge, there is flaw in SAP that it’s not possible

to cancel the inspection lot for material which has serial no. assigned.

Request you to suggest possible way out..?

Hi Nitesh,

My suggestion is to make use of the Production Order process to correct your problem.

Create Manual Production Order for this material, Remove all the existing components from Production Order, Keep the wrong serial number material as component.

Issue this component and Receive the Material, with correct serial number.

Refer SAP note 175842 - Inspection lot: Reversal of goods movements from usage decision

Point 3. We do not support the resetting of postings for materials that require serial numbers.

It has been discussed many time on SCN please use search option
