sapgui doesn't detect that NWBC for desktop is installed

If users logon to sapgui and then launch transaction code nwbc, it launches NWBC for HTML.  We have NWBC for Desktop installed but it does not use it.  Is there a way to force SAP to use the desktop version?

Kindly go through below link.

4.9 Transaction NWBC - SAP NetWeaver Business Client - SAP Library

You need to first run transaction in SAP system and select the icon depending upon your requirement for browser or desktop version.

Pay attention to following lines:

The first icon (or the link with the leading slash) will start NWBC for HTML

The second icon (or the link without leading slash) will start NWBC for the Desktop
