Install latest version/SP Non-Central AE on Lower PI version

Hi all

In Brief:

1.Our Project has few scenarios using Seeburger adapter

2.Planning to replace Seeburger AS2 adapter with B2B add-on

3.As per SAP note "1916146 - Version interoperability of distributed PI/PO landscapes" we can add a non-central Adapter Engine of latest release/SP to the PI hub of lower release/SP, and run scenarios that need the latest adapter capabilities on the non-central Adapter Engine

4.But to use B2B add on and PI Secure Add On we need SP upgrade to minimum 11

5.Our Current version is PI 7.11 SP05

Plan:

1.Upgrade SP level from SP05 to SP11

2.Install non-central Adapter Engine of latest release/SP

3.Download PI Secure Add On from SAP market place for free

4,Get license for B2B add-on

5.Reconfigure seeburger AS2 scenarios with B2B AS2

Please provide inputs on below questions:

1.Do we need license to get non-central Adapter Engine

2.Activities at PI end for installation(before and after)

3.Pros and Cons on installation as Non-Central AE is latest release and Central AE is lower release

1.Do we need license to get non-central Adapter Engine

AFAIK the license in PI is for volume-based, CPU-based or add-Ons. If you put another AE in another server, more CPUs more cost.

2.Activities at PI end for installation(before and after)

No idea, the opposite case is more common and it is supported.

Thanks for the reply.

1.So we need license to install non-Central AE

2.The link is very helpful it gives complete steps for installation and configuration.

Basis team can follow these. Can you please confirm PI Activities once it is installed?

3.It will be helpful for moving forward if I get Pros and Cons.

I got the required information.Closing the thread.

To install Non-Central Adapter Engine, we need another system. This will need a new license for this system.

B2B & PI Secure connectivity Add-on's will be supported starting >= PI 7.11 SP11
