SWPM sudo /sapinst

I am installing a new instance on an AIX 7.1 platform.  Prior to kicking off my installation I had set the ulimits and export TEMP=/usr/sap/put/temp.  For some reason sapsint is still writing content to /tmp.  Does the executable have something hard coded to push content their?  Should I have set up a soft-link beforehand?

I had to go back to the SAN Group and have them add an additional 4 GB to get back on schedule.

I was curious as it clearly is writing to /usr/sap/put/temp/sapinst_instdir/NW740SR2/DB6/INSTALL/STD/ABAP.

Cheers,

Dan Mead

Hi Daniel,

Set the environment variable

TMP = /usr/sap/put/temp

and start the SWPM in the same console.

Hallo,

stop your installation,

move sapinst_instdir from tmp to where you want it,

create a link in tmp,

start sapinst again

Thomas.

Hi Daniel,

Do you switch to directory /usr/sap/put/temp and then start SAPinst?

Hi Daniel,

SAPinst creates the directory sapinst_instdir – which is the current working directory for your installation, SAPinst normally creates the installation directory sapinst_instdir directly below the temporary directory ($TEMP or $TMP or /tmp).
