Hardware limitation in case of MDC

Hello Experts

Need to understand whether there are any limitations in terms of memory allocation per instance if we are planning for MDC approach. We are planning to implement CAR and Hybris on same HANA Host considering MDC as the deployment option. As per the sizing we need 1.6TB memory for CAR and 512 GB for Hybris. We are working on a 5 year TCO at a rate of 25% CAGR growth per year. Need to understand considering the sizing figures, whether we will end-up in any limitations.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Harish

Hi,

Based on our experience with the MDC HANA systems we do not see any limitation of running multiple HANA Tenant Database's with their own Allocation limit

We have MDC systems with more than 10 tenants and wide range of Allocation limits between 100 GB to 1 TB and they work as expected. with scale up architecture you have the options to increase the physical memory provided your CPU architecture and hardware supports the additional memory.

Although we do not have the same combination of CAR and Hybris in our setup our MDC does work efficiently

Hope it helps

Thanks Sunil for the update.

Is there any restriction for one Tenant to go above 1TB memory. As the initial sizing for CAR is 1.6TB, concern is whether we can accommodate this as one of the tenant or we need to go for single host.

Hello Harish,

Currently NO, provided that the HANA applicance has enough memory, CPU and I/O throughout.

Hi Harish,

We do not have any such limitation for allocation of memory to a single tenant in MDC

As you already have growth estimates for CAR along with the initial size you will need to plan for a scalable HANA appliance for future growth
