Hi,
We have an ECC which is of non-unicode.
We want to implement fiori applications into it by bringing in new netweaver gateway server.
So is it possible to implement fiori applications by keeping our gateway server as unicode and ECC as non-unicode.
Or will it work if gateway is of mixed unicode and ECC as non-unicode.
Please suggest here.
Thanks,
sunil
Hi Sunil,
it is highly recommended to go for Unicode when implementing FIORI / gateway.
This is documented in SAP notes 1978213 and 2016014.
Technically it might also work with Non-Unicode, but you need to be aware that you might face restrictions / issues, which cannot be solved by SAP support.
Please also have a look at SAP note 2033243.
Best regards,
Nils Buerckel

Hi Sarbjeet,
I went through that notes, got to know that its not recommended to go for mixed mode since there will be issues on characters encoding.
But what if the case is like both the systems are of non-unicode.?
I didnt find any information on this. SAP recommends unicode but my client system is running on non-unicode ECC.
Is it possible to implement std fiori apps if netweaver is also of non-unicode?
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Sunil
