Best roadmap for upgrading 4.6C on Oracle 8.0.6 with NT4.0?

Hello everybody,

What is the best roadmap while upgrading system from 4.6C on Oracle 8.0.6 with NT4.0 to ECC 6.0 and Windows Server 2003 64bit R2?

Does anyone have any experience or suggestion with that?

I know that there are several ways to reach ECC 6.0 on Windows Server 2003 x64 R2 but wonder that what is the best one in order to avoid and/or minimize the potential problems ?

Ex; first; upgrading oracle 8.0.6 to 8.1.7 then; upgrading NT4.0 to windows server 2003, then upgrading oracle 8.1.7 to 9i..and then....... etc..

Thanks in advance for your supports..

i did an oracle restore under NT4/Ora 8.0.5, made the upgrade to 8.1.7.4, exported this using r3setup and used this as the import under 46C/Win2k3/Ora 9.2

-> do you have two boxes, eg. one running nt (on 32bit) and one running w2k3 (on 64bit)?

-> plz check sapnote n° 960.769, which states that you must perform (at least) a homogeneous system copy in order to achieve an "upgrade" to 64bit

under these circumstances you could follow this path:
-> upgrade oracle to 8.1.7.4 on the old box
-> perform r3load export on old box
-> use this export as database import on the new box
-> install rdbms oracle 9.2 on new box
-> install 46c (incl. kernel 46D_EXT) central instance on new box using r3setup
-> install 46c database instance on new box using r3setup (template dbmig.r3s)
-> afterwards perform oracle upgrade to 10g (check sapnote n° 976.457)
-> perform sap upgrade to ecc60/erp2005

plz keep in mind that "SAP kernel 4.6D is not available as a native 64-bit application for X86_64" - as sap states...so you'll have to use the 32bit kernel

First of all, thank you very much for your response.

As for your question; yes, we have two different boxes (server platform), the old one is 32 bit and the new one is 64 bit.

Could it be that there is anything else to consider before starting the project?
