shelf life planning with heuristics

Hi experts,

Please anybody help me on the shelf life planning in APO SNP, whether the standard SAP solution is possible with heuristics or not?

IF we would like to see the batch stock expiry in APO, suggest the settings needs to be done.

Hi,

Shelf life is supported by SNP. You can refer to planning book 9ASNP_SHLF.

With reference to SAP note   579556 it says

The SNP optimizer can take the shelf life of a product into account, but with restrictions.

Also SP note 1072022 - Shelf life in SNP

In the existing SNP planning applications, shelf life data is not taken into account (except for the SNP optimizer - see Note 579556).

OK, you can say that, but if you can make good use of the functionalities in shelf life planning book, you can still realize something.
In the planning book, stock on hand (shelf life) and supply shortage (shelf life) as well as prjected wasted quantity are calculated by macros, so heuristic can plan based on shelf life situation somehow ...

You are confusing the issue.

Just because a SNP Planning Book can view expiring stock, does NOT mean that SNP heuristics considers shelf life.  

SNP Heuristics does not consider shelf life.  If you notice, SNP Heuristics will give you the same results regardless of the values in expiring stock and/or projected wastage.

Dear Bhavani,

Yes, SNP heuristic does not support shelf life planning.

Either, you can go for SNP optimizer or use PPDS heuristics.

I am also working on a concept for realizing the same issue and of course we are also only using SNP Heuristic. I have something in my mind but it would require technical change in the system. Will probably update here in 2-3 weeks after making sure that it works.Implemnting SNP optimizer/ CTM is far too much and too expensive when you only want to plan for expiring/ short-dated products for replenishment planning.

Hi,

We are planning to use the shelf life on batch stock level from ECC to APO and then in heuristics.

I transferred some batch stock to APO.

But the effect of it on the SNP heuristics wanted to know.

if anybody can help it would be great for me

Hello,

SNP heuristic does not consider the self life data.

PP heuristic SAP_PP_SL001 Planning of Std Lots with Shelf Life is delivered in standard takes account of the shelf life conditions as the "Planning with shelf life" indicator is set. Other heuristics do not take account of the shelf life conditions.
