How to map inquiry to Order for forging industry scenario

Hi,

Company makes material as per clients requirement, so material code for actual material will be created after confirmation of quotation.

Scenario is, client want to create inquiry and quotation using dummy material code, after confirmation of quotation with customer, they want to swap dummy material with actual material in that quotation.

But material in quotation is grayed out and if we delete dummy material and enter actual material then not getting item level document flow in VBFA table.

How to map this process.?

The scenario what you narrated here is nothing new product development and there is a separate forum for this.  The name of the SCN space is Product Lifecycle Management where you should have posted this.

For inquiry, there is no need of material code.  Text is enough.  Only at quotation level, you need a material code and since you don't have at that stage, submit quotation with some dummy material code and subsequently, what you can do is make use of some unutilized field where users can key in manually once the product is developed
