Oracle consumes more memory

Hi All,

We observed that ora<sid> is consuming more memory as per the below screenshot. But we allocated only 22GB of memory to SGA.

We are not able to release the occupied memory. please advise us how to release the memory.

Total RAM - 97GB

Total Paging = 40GB

Dear Subbu,

For oracle configured 22+ 2 + 18 GB memory and from this you see on OS level 41GB is reserved to ora<sid> , I think it is fine. There is additional memory belonging to ora<sid> probably used directly by oracle software.

If you want to decrease the 42GB, Then please decrease the sga_max_size or db_cache_size and restart oracle.
