What is the difference between the parameters rec/client and recclient?

the SAP notes like "163694 - R3trans: Logging table changes" contain the answer to your question. The parameter recclient is a parameter in the transport profile (used by R3trans), the parameter rec/client is a parameter in a SAP profile (used by the SAP system).

Our auditors are asking to have this enabled. According to the link shown above RECCLIENT is:
If the parameter RECCLIENT is set to a client in the system profile and in the transport profile, the system logs any table changes made in the specified client. To do this, you must set the transport profile parameter RECCLIENT to <client>on the Transport Tools tab in the TMS configuration for the system.
Sounds like the same thing as rec/client to me
