Start date from which on a sales order can be placed in SAP

Hello community,

We have the requirement to store a date on the material master on plant level. This date indicate the start date from which on a sales order can be placed in SAP.

Is there a field on the material master that can be used for this purpose? The only field I found is MVKE-VDVZL (Date from which sold in the distribution center). But where can this field be found on the material master? How can I activate this field?

Hello Nilesh,

thanks for your quick response. We already checked this field. We actually use this field to block the material before it is available for sales. But as it is Valid from and not valid to we cannot use this field to store the start date from which on a sales order can be placed. For sure this field will be changed as soon as the material is available for sales and then valid from will be the start date. But the point is that we already need the start date from which a sales order can be placed, when the material is created. This is because planning needs this information.

Any other suggestions? Any idea if the field MVKE-VKVZL can be used and if yes how to "activate" it?

Hello Mario,

I would also suggest to you any field out of below 2.

1 - Cross-distribution-chain material status

2 - Distribution-chain-specific material status

The field MVKE-VDVZL is IS-Retail specific field and that can only be available in the IS-Retail only. It is also accessible in the transaction MM41 / 42 / 43.

What is the difference in business terms between start date for material available for sales and start date from which a sales order can be placed?

In general you can control dates for order creation with pricing conditions - e.g. set in V/06 pricing date to D, set the condition to statistical and mandatory, create records from date 20.02.2016. Then if you try to create an order with this material on date before 20.02.2016, this would result in incompletion message.

In Sales org view of material master you can find Xdist chan. status field where you can block the material up to specific date.
