Sales Value Contract/SD Document Category

Can an SAP Value contract be configured to make financial postings (BL and FM), or is it possible to create a new SD Document category?

as per standard you can't create new SD document categories because they have been hard coded in many standard programs, further if you wanted to bill the value contract then you've to go for billing plan via release order or you can do it directly too. I'm sure you must be aware of periodic billing. In case you want to know further on this, please do let me know. Thanks.

Hi Julie,

Value contract is a Sales document and as per standard SAP, saving value contract dose not generate an accounting document or cause any posting to a G/L account.

Is there a requirement where in business wants to hit G/L account upon saving value contract and they do not want invoice to be created.

Our implementation is public sector and we need the value contract to make funds management (revenues increasing budget) and budgetary ledger postings when created.  It should make postings for the following:

Debit 4221

Debit 4590

Credit 4610

Credit 4210

Be it a Contract or a Sale Order, all FI postings will happen only after saving a billing document.  Having said this, you need to check whether the relevant G/L Accounts are assigned for Account Determination from SD side.
