packing relevance

Hi all,

is it anywhere possible to maintain an entry saying an item is relevant for packing or not or can be packed..

I know that we can control whether all the items that come to delivey

" Cab be packed ", " Must be packed " at the delivery item category level.. But this applies to all the items.

There would be materials which might not require packing. So, how to handle this.

matl gp for packing matls field in the material master is only to say that a particular material can be packed out the available list of packing gp materials. But even if we dont pack, it doesnt restrict. But when we pack it should be fromt the list of allowed materials.

At the delivery item cat. whatever changes we make applies to all the items. And if we put can be packed, then its an option. I might pack or might not. And must be packed cannot be used because, it applies all the items even if some dont requrie packing.

This is issue.

If u maintain value as 'it can be packed 'at item category level in a delivery even if packing is not done for a material system doesnt throw any error, it allows for further processing.If the material requires packing then u carryout packing.

You can try out the field

Packaging material data in the material master.

You may need to define a material group for non package.

Material Group: Packaging Materials

Groups together materials that require similar packaging materials.

Example

For example, you could use the term 'liquids' to group together all materials that need to be packed in packaging materials suitable for liquids.
