Dear All,

We have Kernel level :-

700_REL

Patch level: 111

We want to update this patch level from 111 to patch level 221.

What is the road map to upgrade patch level of SAP kernel.

Should we upgrade directly from 111 to 221.Is this possible..??

Please advice me.

Regards,

JUNAID AHMAD

Dear Mercedez,

After performing Kernel upgrade,D/b is not started yet.

We did all the post activities but the database is not started.

What will we do & check now in this situation, kindly suggest.

Another question is :-

We have 700_REL(patch level-111) on SAP servers, but on SAP marketplace when we checked the patch level of 700_REL it shows patch level-10/20/110/201/301/....

What does it means..??

Whether it means our patch level is under 110 or 201.

And if we want to upgrade our kernel from 700_REL then what are the recommendations for going to 720_REL(under 720-REL should we go for the higher patch level or lower patch level).

Kindly suggest..

Hello Juanid,

which error message do you get at that time?

As mentioned in SAP Note 19466 you should install to the latest kernel stack.

kind regards,
Mercedes

Hello Junaid,

SAP Kernels 700 run out of maintenance on August 31st. 2012 and was replaced by Kernel 72x

Youl could check in SAP Note:
1629598 SAP Kernel 720 will replace older Kernel versions

1636252 Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

I'd recommend you to upgrade to the latest available 721 Stack kernel when possible

kind regards,
Mercedes

Hello Junaid,

in SAP Note "1728283 : SAP Kernel 721: General information " it says:

"The SAP Kernel 721 is a full replacement fo the SAP kernel 720 and older SAP 7XX versions (700,701,710.711) and can be deployed as a kernel patch"

SAP Note 1713986 :Installation of kernel 721 provides more detail information

hope it helps,
