SAP GUI 740 P5 -- SAP logon.ini into xml.

Hi Guys,

we are actually working on implementing SAP GUI740 P5.

For the moment we do run SAP GUI 730 P11.

As I can understand is SAP moving away from logon.ini files into xml.-files which is of course a nice idea.

What is the easiest way to get done the move from 730 logon.ini into 740 xml-file.

Is there any tool we could use to get all those files re-defined as xml.-files?

Hope some of you do have an idea how to get that task solved.

Thanks in advance for helping out.

best regards

Alfons

As soon as SAPgui 7.40 is started, - if NWBC for Desktop is also installed, an automatic conversion of

the existing files to .xml is started.

There is no need to manually convert any files.

See page 14 of the administration guide in the SAPgui compilation download. https://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-59010

Hello Jude,

what about new installations where we don't have anything to convert? Isn't the future planned for only using xml.-files?

Secondly I do have a question related to SAP GUI 740, any experience when running SAP GUI as an APP-V package?

best regards

Creating new systems on a 7.40 gui will generate a new .xml file.

Regarding App-V, refer to note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/66971 where it states:

Microsoft App-V

SAP GUI for Windows is released for use with Microsoft App-V 5.0 (and above) as of the following patch levels:

  • SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 Patch Level 10 (and above)
  • SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 Patch Level 1 (and above)

Customer service tickets relating to problems with Microsoft App-V and queries about App-V itself must be directed to Microsoft Support.

Note the following: There is a pilot program for the combination of SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 on App-V 4.6. Registration for this program has closed. All participants in the program are asked to switch to Microsoft App-V 5.0 in combination with one of the SAP GUI versions mentioned above.

Additional information regarding SAP GUI for Windows on App-V can be found on the following Microsoft page:
