Dear SCN Users,
what is the use of classifications TAB in service interface?
when to use it and what is the purpose?
Hi Raghu,
Classification is similar to tags in SCN, if you assign a tag to the document or blog then based on tag we can easily search the content in future. Similarly we can assign tags like application name, industry, deployment unit etc to the service interface, then based on these tags we can search service interfaces easily. These classification systems and the values are defined in service registry, when you assign them in repository these values are retrieved from service registry.
Check below links for more information.
Classification is an option whereby you assign semantic meaning to the contents in the ES Repository. You can classify the service interfaces in the ES Repository based on the application name, industry, deployment unit, and so on. Classification is a process by which you assign additional tags to a service interface. Each tag, when assigned, adds a semantic meaning to the service interface. The tags assigned are saved as part of the service interface definition and can be used to search for these interfaces.
To support classification and browsing in the user interfaces, the Services Registry requires an additional classification service which is not part of the UDDI standard. This service provides the UI with metadata on different classification systems, and the content of each classification system. Where applicable, this includes the possible values, descriptive text, and hierarchical structural information. The classification service supports the dynamic addition of values to a classification system.

Praveen.

Hi Raghuraman,
It is an interesting question. AFAIK this concept is joined with the Service Registry classification one Setting Destinations to UDDI Server and Classification Service - Configuring the Services Registry -...
However, like you, i haven't so clear its usage, may be to be used from a third system to search services according a different classifications in the SR?, may be someone has used this feature.
Regards.
