hI,
We are working on ECC-TM-EWM integration and was wondering the best practise we should adopt while implementing handling unit management for various material types. Some of the suggestion was there we should have this set up from EWM directly in case HU is not created during deliveries from ECC.Can experts on EWM throw light on this
The Question, We have HU and TOP HU in EWM system during OD creation for IBGI process the TOP HU gets deleted and lower one moved to ECC and create Delivery note HU , but due to upgrade the Lower HU is not moving when packed into TOP HU for many deliveries.
before upgrade, the TOP HU was getting deleted automatically in EWM and sends lower HU to ECC. now the queue stuck Error msg. HU into which you want to pack could not be found

Hi,
which deliveries are you referring to? Inbound process or outbound process?

Hi,
I assume when you write "best practise we should adopt while implementing handling unit management for various material types" you want to know where packing should be done.
For outbound processes the answer is simple, as packing starts always in EWM. You can not pack outbound deliveries in ERP.
For inbound it is the question what information you get respectively what you want to do. When the material is coming packed from the vendor, we actually expect that in the ASN the packing information is included. This is then passed over to EWM so you can putaway the material in the HU you get. But maybe you don't know how the material is coming or maybe you want to pack it differently. Then the packing is easier done in EWM (technically if you do not receive packing information from the vendor, in inbound deliveries in ERP you can pack). So you either enter in the system how the material is packed or you do pack it according your requirements.

Hi,
Yes, we can generate HUs from EWM itself for Auto HU against ECC IBD & Auto pick HU against WOs of outbound delivery order etc.
But, here in EWM, it would required to maintain proper condition procedures for packaging specification to get auto HUs.
here is one example :
0IBD the condition procedure in pack spec for Auto HU during IBD in EWM. product & ship-from are the standard fields in that.
case 1 : one vendor can always supply a fixed quantity in one HU ?
case 2 : If the same product supplied by various vendors, what are their HU quantities?
Before going to decide about the auto HU creation in EWM, please consider the various cases like above and make the decision.
