Remote client copy from different instance

Hi All,

We have got a new requirement wherein we have to do remote client copy from our PRD Server to our QAS server. Earlier i have done client copy from  PRD server to QAS server for the existing client. However now We are instructed not to  disturb the existing QAS data.

So we have created a new client in our QAS Server and created a RFC from QAS to PRD. should i add any new parameters to the new client or copy or the same parameters apply to both clients in QAS server. Will we face any problems after starting client copy from PRD. I am not sure if we have to reconfigure tms configuration. Or can we follow the same client copy procedure that we had done for the existing client?

Please do suggest.

Regards,

Adarsh

Hello Adarsh,

If remote client copy is not compulsory then go with Client export/import method.

Thank you

Hello Adarsh,

You can use below notes and KBA. For detail go to links.

For prerequisites see the note

557132 - CC-TOPIC: Remote client copy

A Remote Client Copy can be used to transfer Customizing, user and application data between two systems. The target client is completely reset for this (exception: SAP_USER copy profile, see also notes 19574 and 24853).

However, a repository (programs, table definitions, system variants and so on) is NOT transferred.

In fact, a prerequisite for this is that the systems have the same development status. This means that all software components must have the same release and the same Support Package version in both the source and target system. This particularly applies to the SAP_BASIS component.

For Q&Q use

552711 - FAQ: Client copy

For procedure use below KBA;

1537913 - Client Copy: Local & Remote copies, Client Export/Import and Client deletion

Hello Adarsh,

If you are planing to remote client copy and your data base is big (More than200GB) we will not recommend you, better to with export/import ,

if it is less do a test run there you will find the timings and size , you will also know the error if any,

Thanks
