PPDS heuristics planning extra quantity in planned order

Hi SAP Gurus,

In our curret project,when user take a PPDS heuristic run the planned orders created are of extra quantity,which in turn the user have to create

manual orders to adjust the quantity.

Any clue what would be the issue ,we checked PP planning procedure and other settings even BOM is correct.

Your help will be appreciated

Hi Yash,

Is the heuristic creating real surplus (Available Quantity > 0 at the last entry in the Elements tab) or only creating orders earlier than required?

• If available quantity = 0 at the end of the horizon, you may want to switch to method FIFO for Net Requirements Calculation in the heuristic settings
• If you want to use Avoid Surpluses method, consider KBA below:

           2010195 Avoid surplus receipts in PPDS planning by setting Alert Threshold in product m

Apart from this, check lot-size settings, as recommended by Vikash and Marius above.

Hi,

Please check your lot size strategy (in the material master, tab lot size). Try with lot for lot option!
