Check out option allows users to edit a copy of record without changing the original records.When Checked out a duplicate copy is created for editing & original copy is kept in Protected mode.
There are two types of check out available in MDM.
Exclusive checkout:-It is User-centric check-out.When user check out a record as exclusive, while it is checked out only that user can modify the record,other users can see the original record but cant modify or check it out.
No n-exclusive checkout:-When a record is initially checked-out as non-exclusive,other users may join the checkout which allows them to view or modify the checked out record.
Users then use check-in option when editing of the record is completed in check out mode.
