start instance failed in SOLMAN installation

Hi Team,

We are installing SOLMAN 7.1 in AWS instance with SUSE Linux as OS and Sybase ASE as database.

The hostname of the AWS instance is long and did not match the hostname prerequisite for SAP installation. So with the command hostname <newname> changed the hostname and started the installation.

Now in the start instance phase of installation the instance is getting started but the dispatcher is not green. It is showing in the log as Dispatcher status Yellow Running but not connected to Message server.

Below is the error in the dev_icm log.

WARNING => IcmJ2EEScheduleFunc: Cannot access "/sap/public/icman" - please check node in TA sicf [icxxman_mt.c 2679]

I have upgraded the kernel also to the latest to 721 UC 600 SP as per the note 2175462 - ICM doesn't work when the first HTTP service has subparameter HOST defined

But still the error is same. Kindly suggest.

Hi Ashutosh,

Tried it has Hostname tab in network services but it shows only the host file entries. I have already changed the entries in hosts file and tried. But after restart the hostname changes to the initial hostname even though the hosts file is still having the changes which I made.

Kindly follow the below steps

The default behavior of an AWS instance is to generate a new hostname / computername at

the time an instance is launched from an AMI or a stopped instance is restarted. This behavior

is not appropriate for an SAP system and must be disabled by following the steps provided

below.

- SUSE

1) Start yast

2) Navigate to Network Devices -> Network Settings (press enter)

3) Select Hostname/DNS in the menu

4) Change the values of the Hostname and Domain Name fields as required

5) Uncheck “Change Hostname via DHCP”

6) F10 (to save)

7) F9 (to exit)

-Red Hat

1) Edit file /etc/sysconfig/network

2) Change parameter HOSTNAME and replace value with the new hostname

3) Restart OS

-Windows

1) Start -> Programs -> EC2ConfigService Settings

2) On the General tab, deselect “Set Computer Name”

The hostname in the AWS instance we were not able to set it permanent.

Because of that we are getting this error. If any one can help to set the hostname permanently in AWS EC2 instance then it will be helpful

Dear Mathan,

You need to set the parameter

service/webprotectedmethods=DEFAULT in all the profiles of SAP.

Then stop the SAP system and kill all the sapstartsrv services by using a kill -9 command.

Then start the SAP System after this sapcontrol command will work with function RestartService.
