Dear Friends,

Some time in production system all UPD process has occupied and system getting almost hanged.

In SM 50 in the column 'Work Process - Status info" showing RFC Response.

Please see a screen shot of sm50 attached.

System detail is as under:

ECC6 EHP 7

Oracle 11.2.0.4

OS: RHEL 6.4

Kenel : 741

Requesting you to kindly suggest, how to resolve the issue.

Dear Bhagawati,

You also need to check DIA work process as well.

Number of DIA work process must be greater than the number of non-dia work process.

Check the sapnote 186475 - All update tasks are waiting with 'stopped CPIC' reason

Dear Ashutosh,

Number of DIA work process grater that non-dia work process.

I shall check sapnote 186475 as you suggested and let you know.

Hello,

The "on hold / RFC" status means that this work process made an RFC call and now it is waiting for the results.

You need to identify the target of the RFC call and why the target system/instance is not sending the response back.

The SAP KBA 2180934 can help you find the target.

Hi Bhagwati,

You need to also look at the inbound rfc's flowing in the system and check if you have enough quota defined in RZ12 for RFC processing.

Check...

1260137 - Work process status "Stopped RFC" by SAPLARFC (tRFC/qRFC)

726148 - SAPLARFC occupies all work processes, RFC cascade

578842 - UPD WPs have the status CPIC(RFC) stop in SM50

Prithviraj.

Dear Bhagawati,

You need to check the below things.

- Check if the database is having a space or not.

- Check whether the transaction log as got full or archive log in case of oracle and db2.

- Also check if any deadlock has occurred on the table on which it is doing the upgrade

- Also check the sm21 and st22.

Also check the gateway log , in case if you see a host not found.

Hi.

Dou you have free space on your DB?

If you check Tcode SM13, are the Updates ON ?

The system seems to be waiting for something...
