Standalone Gateway Install Kernel NW750

Hi,

I am trying to install the standalone gateway and the install is asking for Kernel NW750 image. I can only find the Unicode Kernel for NW750. Is this a bug in SWPM? If not where can I find the proper image? From what I have read non-Unicode kernel will not be available after 7.40.

Hi Chris,

This is not a bug in SWPM. It is not possible to install non-unicode NW 7.5 systems.

As you mentioned, non-unicode Kernel will not be available after 7.40.

Therefore, there will be only unicode kernel media as of 7.50.

Hi,

Below are the steps I followed.

1. Opened ./sapinst for SWPM10SP09_7-200097 (and tried the same with SWPM10SP09_6-200097)

2. I selected 'SAP NetWeaver 7.5' -> 'Oracle' -> 'SAP System' -> Standalone Engines' -> 'Gateway' -> 'Gateway'

3. Entered my <SID> for this system.

4. Entered my master password.

5. Now it ask for 'UC Kernel NW750' folder path. I entered the path to image folder 51050082_3 for Unicode Kernel 7.50.

6. Now it ask for 'Kernel NW750' folder path.

It will not take the Unicode Kernel NW750 folder again. This tells me it is asking for a non-Unicode kernel.

What image folder is it looking for in step 6?

Hi,

I took a look at the packages.xml file and I wonder if the entry for Gateway on line 9 is incorrect along with the Kernel entry on lines 7.

If non-Unicode Kernel does not exist it seems line 7 and 9 would be invalid.

Also the label for the Gateway download image is different than what is on line 9.

Hello Chris,

I was discussing with the development team about this issue.

In fact, this is a program issue in the SWPM tool, which will be solved in SWPM SP10. So far, there is no date to be released.

In order to workaround this situation, you can use a fake LABEL.ASC with the label the tool is expecting, however such procedure was not tested, then I cannot guarantee the impact.

you can find the proper image via:

    -> "Installations and Upgrades"

        -> "Browse our Download Catalog"

            -> "SAP NetWeaver and complementary products"

                -> "SAP NetWeaver"

                    -> "SAP NetWeaver 7.5"

                        -> "Installation and Upgrade"

                            -> Select your operating system

                                -> Select any database, then scroll down to bottom of page (for example, Microsoft Windows )

                                    -> Download "SAP Kernel 7.45 Windows Server on x64 64bit - NW 7.5"
