Samplig Proceedure / Scheme based on Product Age

Hi All,

Is there a way to setup a sampling procedure / scheme based on Product Age during Goods Issue or Pick for Delivery?

For Eg.

If Product A is Older then 24month and Less then 36months - It should be pressure tested prior to being delivered to customer

If Product A is Older then 36month - It should have it's seals replaced and pressure tested prior to delivery to customer.

Product A is considered new during goods receipt and its batch managed.

Sapling Rate is 100%.

So if QTY 10 is being delivered and they are Older then 36month all 10 would have their seals replaced and pressure tested.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Xander,

I believe, in this scenario its very important how inspection plan is picked for inspection lot than sample calculation as it's 100%. Hence I think you can try the custom method explained below -

a) Create a sampling procedures => sampling type = 100% inspection [200], Valuation Mode = Attr. insp. nonconforming units / manual [110] or the one business needs. Add the same sampling procedure to all the below inspection plans.

b) Create 3 inspection plans - Please ensure that during GR form production the 'date of manufacture' [MCHA-HSDAT] for the batch is filled.

Plan 1: Test for 0 months to 24 months. Add all relevant MIC's required for testing a fresh goods receipt material.

Plan2: Test for more than 24 months to 36 months. Add the other MIC's required for testing this case and create new MIC1 (Required MIC) to identify 'Pressure Test' = Yes / No. Add this MIC to this 2nd inspection plan.

Plan 3: Test for more than 36 months. On top of other MIC's required for testing this case, please create a new MIC2 (Required MIC) to identify 'Seal Replacement' = Yes /No. Add MIC1 and MIC2 to this 3rd inspection plan.

c) For Delivery type, assign inspection type 10.

Quality Inspection => Inspection Lot Creation => Inspection at Shipping => Assign Inspection Lot Origin to Delivery Type

d) Use the Exit form the delivery => Inspection Lot creation => Inspection plan reading

QPAP0001  Enhancement - plan reading

EXIT_SAPLQPAP_001 - Customer Exit After Reading Task List

QPAP0002  Enhancement for material/plan assignment, plan selection

EXIT_SAPLQPL1_001 - Predefine Selection Parameters for Task List Selection from

EXIT_SAPLQPAP_002 - Customer Function for Task List Selection

e) Once the exit is triggered, please add a custom code  -

* If System Date of inspection lot [type 10] creation is less than 24 months form 'date of manufacture' [MCHA-HSDAT] ===> Pick Inspection plan 1

* If System Date of inspection lot [type 10] creation is more than 24 months and less than 36 months form 'date of manufacture' [MCHA-HSDAT] ===> Pick Inspection plan 2

* If System Date of inspection lot [type 10] creation is more than 36 months form 'date of manufacture' [MCHA-HSDAT] ===> Pick Inspection plan 3

NOTE: As this above logic is a custom one, please check for any better feedback form standard SAP prospective to follow. Else you can try this one and feedback.

Thanks,

Arijit

Hi Xander,

Updating the steps mentioned at point e) -

NOTE: In case if cost of pressure testing and/or changing seal is higher for such mixed material delivery scenario, then you should plan to control the Goods Issue to deliveries into separate slots to create multiple inspection lots. OR, try to use SD exit to identify the right materials are picked, so that it do not has an impact of the outbound quality.

Also, you need to do a downstream impact analysis for such scenarios specially at Quality Certificate front for the forms printed, etc.

Thanks,

Arijit

Though this solution may a working solution but honestly as I said earlier, it involves too much development and maintenance costs at SAP Side. In case if there is no further inputs available, only then try to build this to make business moving..

Please wait for some more logical and appropriate solutions... !!!

Arijit / Ayoub thank you very much for your reply.

I will test it in our quality system.

Not sure if recurring inspections will work as we only want to generate an inspection at the time of picking the goods to send to a customer, but I will look into it.

Again thank you for the fast reply.

Hello Xander,

For inspection that needs to be done at regular intervals, it is better to use recurring inspection process.

This way, the system will automatically generate recurring inspection lots for batches that are reaching a specific age with related inspection characteristics.

At the time of delivery, inspection lot will only have characteristics that are not related to age (like systematic checks).

You can find more  about recurring inspection (batch monitoring) here  :

Inspection for Deadline Monitoring of Batches - Quality Inspection - SAP Library

Hope this helps solve your problem.

Regards,

Ayoub.
