update of next inspection date in batch master record

Hi Experts,

Could you please help on a query.

1. Next inspection date in batch master record  (MSC3N) is updating by calculating the inspection interval days from the manufacturing date or from the GRN date. We are having an issue on this.

Hello Craig,

There is an issue with us that the materrial, plant and batch manufactured through process order.. inspection interval set for this material in material master QM view as 90 days and Total shelf life as 180 days.

So the next inspection date in batch master updated by calculating 90 days from the GRN date please let me know it need to calculate from the date of manufacture + 90 days or from the GRN date + 90 days.

With regards

Hi Trupti,

in standard SAP, next inspection date is calculated by adding the inspection interval to the GRN date.

Kindly check the below link to understand the same.

It's a tad odd how it is done.  When you do the first GR, you SHOULD enter in the date of manufacture. You can do this separately.  If you don't, the GR date is used instead of the date of manufacture.

So.. the question is, how and when in your process do you enter in the DOM?  It appears it is not being done before the first GR.

Hi Akash ,

In Material master in Plant data storage 1  view , maintain the  Time Unit ( D- Days ) .

Min shelf life - 60 days

Total shelf life as 365 days ( for ex ) .

Then in the batch master the next inspection date will be calculated by adding as:

Today's Date  + 365  days.

If its Inhouse Production then from manufacturing date it will be calculted (activate SLED for the Plant )

If its externally procured item then from the GRN Date , it will be calculated :

GRN Date + 365 days -- for external procured items

Manufacturing dates  + 365 days - for Inhouse production.

Thanks
