When I start up the system, all the processess are running under user SAPSYS for the initialization work but non-stopping for passed 12K seconds.

One of the logs dev_w2 shows as following:

Before we reboot the server, the system is hanged with several Update processes and the SGEN running in the background.

Any suggestions?

I've restarted the instance for many times, but it seems all the same.

Finally I use SQLPLUS to restart the DB, and the initialization completes.

Thanks all.

Hi,

First of all go to sm37 and stop the process for SGEN. then try.

Tks for your reply, Mantosh. But now all work processes are occupied and all the users cannot log on the system..

Hi

you can do one thing. But this needs a restart of the machine.

At the OS level you can get into the profile and increase your work processes. Then restart. This will take care.

Also remember one thing in the operation mode you can plan your wokprocesses. You should more dialog during day time and background during night.

Once again this is the decision at your side as to how many work processes you should have and how should these be scheduled. It depends on how your environment works.
