Hi All,

We are currently building a new landscape for the Business. We have decided to keep two different Trans Mount Point for Production and Non Production Environment. Both Production and Non Production groups will be configured under 1 same Domain Controller.

So want to know if developer can check transport logs for production system by logging into Development System?

Hi,

Since you have two Transport Folders (just giving you a basic Idea) one for DEV and one for PRD.

In Dev, when in DEV you can check the logs only that's for the DEV system and not for the PRD if you dont have access to move the TR in the PRD system.

Now in PRD, you can check the logs for both as long as the TR is moved from the first system to the second implying from one transport Dir to another as the cofile will contain this detail.in your case DEv to PRD.

This is another case where.. from Dev system you can move the TR to prod as the transport layer would be maintained and would ask you for user credentials. If you are able to login to PRD from your DEV system to move the TR, you can also check the logs or the import history.

Hello Deepanshu,

No. You can not check transport logs for production system by logging into Development System.

When you display the transport logs in SE01, firstly it will check the cofile in the transport directory, if the cofile does not have any information about Production System, you will not be able to get the transport logs for Production System.
On the contrary, if you log into Production System, you will be able to check the transport logs for Development System. That is because the cofile in Production System contains the transport information for Development System.

Hope this answers your question.

Best regards,

Hi Deepanshu,

Yes you can view the logs of a given TR from any system (Dev, QAS, PRD).

In Dev, simply run SE01 and give the TR and click Logs button --> this will display logs of all the system in which the TR is imported.

In PRD, you view same as above with STMS_IMPORT click on TR and click Logs from button bar. This will display the logs of the TR for PRD system only.

To display logs of all other system in the present screen select Goto--> All logs option from Menu bar.

Provided you have permission and owners set for the trans directories and sub directories at OS level.

Regards,

Prithviraj.

Your recent question posted in SCN SAP Transportation Management community is in the wrong place.  SAP TM is devoted to the SAP application which manages the physical movement of goods using trucks, trains, planes, and ships.  What you posted regarding software changes from one system to another (Dev to QA, for example) should be in the Netweaver Administrator community.  Please use the correct community in the future.  Searching with Google would have provided that information.

Your post will be moved to the correct community.
