unrar in linux

Hi all

I have downloaded SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 Installation Export. And now cant unrar. When I use unrar x <rarArchive.exe> command the unpacked file doesn't save folder structure. The result is file with name foldername\filename but must be the file with name filename in folder foldername.

How can I corectly unpack archive?

Hi Aram.

You can unzip those installation export files in Windows OS, and then transfer to Linux OS.

Is that normal solution? What about file permissions? Why sap bundle application for Linux in archive that must be extracted in windows?

Yes, after that you have to change the permission as said by Anil Bhandary.

Use the conmand "uncar -xvf (archive file name)"

uncar ?????? is this mistake or there is uncar utility?

If you mean unrar -xvf <archive name> (I have read about this), it isn't work.

Dear Aram,

Can you share the screenshot of the issue.

Follow the below procedure:

1. Copy all files of Installation export in folder which should only contain installation export.

2. Provide 775 permission to the folder and all files.

3. run command by going inside the folder unrar x <exe file name>

unrar command will extract exe as well as rar file together.

I have done as you write but the result is:

The files are extracted, but all there are in one folder. The folder hierarchy wasn't created. The first file in snapshot must not have name 51050166_1\CDLABEL.ASC, it must be located in folder 51050166_1 and file name must be just CDLABEL.ASC.

Hi Aram,

Before starting the unrar command, what all files were (exe and rar ) there in the folder.

Can you share the screenshot of the file which was before the unrar command.

Folder looks good.

In this case when you run command unrar x 51050166_part.1.exe.

You will be able to see all other RAR files will also get extracted automatically. So nothing to worries. (++ If files rar file is in error while using unrar for exe then it is problem with downloaded dump file)

Once folder get extracted, you can go ahead with the installation and and provide the extracted CD 51050166* folder when SWPM prompts.

Logically you should not face any error.

Please go ahead and let us know if any issue faced.
