Simulation of Variant configuration with Engineering application

Dear Experts,

I am aware of the variant configuration  with sale order processing. But I am not aware of the variant configuration process with Engineering configuration ie I want simulate the VC in t-code CU50 with the selection in configuration -> Engineering. Also please let me know the practical application of this selection with PLM and how it is used in BOM and task list

Hi,

the option "Engineering" makes sense if you want to simulate the configuration of order BOMs. If you are using the scenario 'Order BOM' in the VC Profile, you can use 'Sales' to enter characteristic values and 'Engineering' to explode the BOM. In this Scenario you can not enter any values on header level when using option "Engineering". However, the behavior of CU50 is depending of the settings in the configuration profile.
