Manage CE-declaration process with SAP

Hi,

just being confronted with the question whether SAP does enable a fully integrated end-to-end (Self) CE-certification process across all stages as described here:

Whilst it appears that some SAP modules such as SAP EHS Management. Environmental Compliance, SAP Product & REACH compliance  and SAP Regulation Management (by Greenlight) offer relevant capabilities, I haven't come across sufficiently detailed information (reaching beyond Solution Briefs) to get a somewhat decent understanding of the options.

Anyone out there ready to share some more detailed product descriptions, insights or even practical experiences?

I am particularly interested in ways to support stage 1 (identify the applicable directives) and stage 2 (identify the applicable requirements of the directives) of the process (refer to link above). Key questions include:

- can SAP store the actual directives and any other applicable documents in their DMS?

- does SAP DMS provide pertinent search features to locate the applicable documents?

- can the relevant SAP document search function be configured to consider both, internal SAP DMS as well as external (cloud) databases holding relevant regulatory documents?

- is there any (auto-notification) feature available informing engineers or other involved stakeholders about changes in referenced documents?

- can all CE-certification relevant documents (including the actual declaration) be bundled and linked to the related product Material Master?

Hi Christian,

in general, SAP PLM (potentially together with EHS Management) and our Enterprise Search should be applicable for your inquiry.

Responses to your individual questions:

1. Yes, all directives can be stored in SAP's DMS.

2. Yes, full text and attribute-based search is provided in DMS.

3. Yes, Enterprise Search allows for internal and external sources of content.

4. Yes, notifications on document changes (e.g. new versions) can be triggered.

5. Yes, also bundling is possible, either as multiple original files to a single document info record, or as a ZIP file as original attached to a single document info record that is linked to the material master via an object link.
