OS migration from HP-Ux to SUSE Linux

Hi,

We want OS migration from existing HP-UX B.11.31 and DB Oracle11G.

Target OS will be: VMware SUSE Linux.

Target DB will be: Oracle 12C.

My question is what is the best tool available for this OS migration and database upgrade? Can we use SUM for DMO. As I know DMO is only for HANA DB migration but can it be used for Oracle 11G to 12C upgrade with OS migration? If not then what is the best tool can be used.

Also let me know which document should we start to follow to start the activity?

Regards,

Sudip

You'll do a standard heterogeneous migration. DMO would be used to upgrade SAP and not the DB, per se.

Hi Jake,

Thanks a lot for your quick answer. I think we have only one option of SWPM for OS migration in our case. Can you please let me know whether NZDT (non Zero Downtime Option) covers in SWPM. I know SUM DMO covers NZDT as SUM upgrade system. But we would like to know for SWPM.

NZDT is a service provided by SAP which is quite complex and expensive. NZDT usually relates to limiting downtime of an upgrade or conversion and SWPM does have some of this functionality. There are steps in SWPM to limit the downtime, such as parallel export/import. You can also investigate DB log shipping from source and target.

What SAP application are you running? If BW, then investigate Queue Cloning with Post Copy Automation.

This is an extensive subject, but you can start with the link below.
