GUI 740 PL-05, error CSapEditorCtrl::GetObject: object nn does not exist

with updating SAPGUI 7.40 to PL-05

we got error CSapEditorCtrl::GetObject:  object nn does not exist

after searching we found:

2192210 - New and removed components on the Presentation DVD 7.40 Compilation 2 (SAP GUI Installation)

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2192210

2221815 - SAPscript Legacy Text Editor controls are not packed in SAP Windows GUI Installation

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2221815

(with a wrong 2. link in this note (language de) link to SAPSCRIPT LEGACY TEXT EDITOR)

  • should we use PL-04 instead ?

  • are these components also missing in PL-06 or PL-07 ?

to add these (older) components manually in installation-packs seems to be a bad work-around

Christoph,

Per SAP Note 2221815: If you require SAPscript Legacy Text Editor and SAPScript Form Painter you can add the component SAPSCRIPT LEGACY TEXT EDITOR to a GUI installation server based on 7.40 Compilation 2 by downloading the installer from the SAP Support Portal.

Hi

Please note that attempting to install the sapscript legacy text editor from the above note failed for me under windows 10 (no problems under windows 7).

It seems that the extracting of the archive has problems under windows 10.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi,

I have tried the explanations in relevant SAP Notes. But still the problem could not be solved.

The solution was in my case for SAP GUI 740 in Windows 10 the reinstallation of SAP Script Editor.

To do that:

As is given in first solution in SAP Note 2267927 download SAPscript Legacy Text Editor

Then follow the link for SAP Note 2221815 - SAPscript Legacy Text Editor controls are not packed in SAP Windows GUI Installation.

In SAP Note 2221815 skip the directions for SAP GUI 750 and 760. Perform only the directions for the extraction of downloaded file. There is no need to open NWSAPSetupAdmin.exe.

Find the SapScriptEditorControlsSetup.exe in extracted path and install.

Hi Christoph

As mentioned in SAP note 2192210, "ECL Viewer" and "Controls for the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor"

had to be removed for technical reasons. In the past they have often been installed without concrete need.

If you are using them, please install them separately, to add the files to an existing SAP GUI Installation Server

follow these steps:

After downloading the respective installer file, extract the content into a folder by calling the installer file from the

command line with the option /extract=”<FOLDER_NAME>”

Start NWSAPSetupAdmin.exe from the SETUP directory of the installation server

In the toolbar, choose Import Products

Follow the wizard and supply the path to the setup folder of the source containing the product to be added to the installation

server

Once the products are imported you can define a single installation package that installs SAP GUI as well as ECL Viewer and / or

Controls for the SAPscript Legacy Text Editor.

Best Regards,

Liang
