Hi All,

Our SAP instance is terminating with the following error.

I have checked with the note 1966321, it says that to do the latest kernel patch.

Our kernel patch is 2 years old.

The system was running fine without any issue.

I need to know whether the kernel patch will do the trick?

Regards,

Karthik.R

Hi Karthik,

     Did you solved the error?

May I know your last activities?

Try to check if the patches was installed to your db.

     Using CMD

    %Oracle_home%/Opatch/opatch.bat lsinventory

Hi Karthik,

What is your kernel main version?

If the kernel is already end of maintenance, why not update the latest kernel as required?

Best regards,
James

Hi James,

Sorry for the late reply... We didnt face any issues for the last 2 years of the old version... Suddenly the bug happened... We are planning to do the kernel upgrade this month to latest..

SAP also said there is no workaround too...

Thanks all for the views..

Hello Karthik,

there is no other choice than updating the kernel. The SAP note 2183642 describes a workaround (using semaphores instead of mutexes) until the kernel can be updated. If the new SAP kernel should have this mutex deadlock again, you should report it to SAP in an incident.
