SAPSRVKILL failed on HOSTNAME_SID_00: Access is denied

Hi Experts,

We are in middle of SAP Upgrade, at phase MAIN_DTTRANS/STOPSAP_DTTRANS.... SUM is trying to stop sap and it is failing with the below error.

Interestingly I can stop/start SAP from SAP MMC. Even if we stop sap from SAPMMC and try to proceed with next we are still getting the below error.

When I manually try to execute the commands  form CMD prompt... still the same issue.

FYI I am executing with sidadm user and it is part of administrator group.

EXECUTING E:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\stopsap.exe "name=SID" "nr=00" "SAPDIAHOST=HOSTNAME"

STOPSAP: execution of E:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapntwaitforhalt.exe name=SID nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=HOSTNAME 3600 failed

From further logs i see as below.

SAPSRVKILL failed on HOSTNAME_SID_00: Access is denied., CreateFile failed in plugin_pipefopen()

Error occured when waiting for halt on HOSTNAME_SID_00.

E:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapntwaitforhalt.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

running E:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapsrvkill.exe HOSTNAME_SID_00

running E:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapntwaitforhalt.exe name=SID nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=HOSTNAME 3600

Note: Original hostname and SID are replaced in the above logs.

Any clue on the above will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Leela

Hello,

1. Could you please share o/p of sapcontrol -nr XX -function GetProcessList

2.CreateFile failed in plugin_pipefopen() sometimes indicates problems related to SAPGLOBALHOST share.

Verify whether <sid>adm and SAPService<sid> can access SAPGLOBALHOST share.

Also please try :

Try to use sapstartsrv.exe to un-install and re-install

the SAP<sid>_xx service and un-register and re-register

the DCOM interface as follows:

1) Log into the NT machine as <SID>adm.

2) Run \usr\sap\<sid>\sys\exe\run\sapstartsrv.exe'.

3) Select "Uninstall Service + Unregister COM Interface"

4) Specify your SID and System Number (NR) and click ok.

5) Select "Install Service + Register COM Interface + Start Service

6) Specify your SID and System Number (NR).

7) Specify your startprofile (use the 'browse' button).

😎 Specify your user as (<domain>\SAPService<SID> or

    <workgroup>\SAPService<SID>).

9) Specify the passsword for SAPService<SID>.

10) Click OK

Hi Manjunath,

1) Output for sapcontrol getprocesslist is attached.

2)SAPGLOBALHOST share---> you mean //HOSTNAME/sapmnt and //HOSTNAME/saploc ?

sidadm and SAPServiceSID has access to sapmnt and saploc.

I doubt there must be some issues accessing the SAPGLOBALHOST share only, please let me know if you have any known checks to make sure SAPGLOBALHOST is accessible.

3)I want to try  this uninstall and re-install as a last option.

Can you please suggest more on the second point?

@Sriram, it is not only with the upgrade, but general stopsap/startsap from the CMD prompt is having the issue.

FYI we were able to stop/start SAP from SAP MMC.

Leela.

Hi Leela,

This is not new.... this is usually a problem with either the windows service <HOSTNAME_SID_00> as mentioned above or a user authorization issue.

Usually reinstalling the service helps. There is tons of threads about this issue, if you search you'll find more details.

Reyes,

I have seen threads relating to SAPSRVKILL failed with DCOM issue...

But here I am not seeing this DCOM issue...  If you have seen any such thread which speaks of the similar issue ... can  you suggest me ?

FYI I already tried that "startsapsrv.exe -t"

Windows service <HOSTNAME_SID_00>, you mean SAPSID_00  in services.msc?

Sriram,

Yes, sidadm and SAPSeriviceSID are part of local administrator group.

@Prithviraj, couldn't get any help from those sap notes.
