Impact on existing smartforms after migration to S/4 on HANA

In the simplification list item 2.1.2.14 ( Billing Document Output Management ) , we understand that Smartforms and SAP scripts won't be supported in considering NACE based output type configurations if replaced with BRF+ technique as they are Adobe based. With this understanding, we know that all such smartforms and scripts must be converted to Adobe forms. Also we understand that smartforms and scripts by itself( Standalone) are still supported with new S/4 HANA, so we are trying to get an understanding on the overall effort needed to convert all impacted smartforms and scripts?

  1. Do we need to convert each and every smartform, sapscript to adobe?
  2. If no, is there is a tool or method to identify all the impacted forms?

Hello,

can you post the exact wording of the entry in question from the simplification list that supposedly rules out SAPscript/Smart Forms ?

Dear Alexander,

Please find below the exact wording from the simplification document.

2.1.2.14 Billing Document Output Management

2.1.2.14.1 Description

With SAP S/4HANA a new output management approach is in place. By design, the new output management includes cloud qualities such as extensibility enablement, multi tenancy enablement and modification free configuration. Therefore the complete configuration differs from the configuration that is used when output management is based on NAST. The configuration is based on BRF+ which is accessible for customers. In SAP S/4 HANA, the target architecture is based on Adobe Document Server and Adobe Forms only. for the form determination rules(along with other output parameters) BRF+ functionality is used( in this sense in combination with the message determination).

Output management based on NAST is not available for new documents in SD billing. Billing documents that are migrated from legacy systems and for which NAST based output has been determined, can be processed with this technology. For all new billing documents the new output management is used. Therefore in Sales & Distribution in the are billing/customer invoice there is a need to adapt the configuration settings related to Output management.

In application billing it is recommended to use Adobe Forms but due to a compatibility the form technologies know from Business Suite(like Smart forms, Sap Script) are supported as well. Other channels are not available by default.

Dear Santosh,

ok, I understand it as follows:  the forms technologies SCR and SF are still supported. So no need to convert any forms to IFbA in S4H. There is a new output framework for applications in S4H which uses BRF+ for any new (meaning newly developed in S4H) forms.

It also says that even old NAST based output forms  can work in S4H.

I don't believe there exists an automatic tool which tells you which ones are "old, migrated" forms and which ones are "new S4H" forms. What you can do is make a list of all billing-related forms/print programs you use in the existing ERP system and inquire with SAP whether these still are supported in S4H. Sorry, I have no better idea.
