LumiraGovernance.Properties File

Dear Members, I have been observing a strange behaviour with SAP Lumira 1.29. Strange may I do not understand the lumira properties file. Here is what I observe...

We have dns aliases created for our Lumira servers as bilumira-dev, bilumira-qa and bilumira. When we add the rest.url=http://bilumira-qa.xyx.com:6405/biprws into our LumiraGovernance.Properities file, the dns alias is being resolved to the server name. i.e When we provide the login user and password details and go to File -> Preferences -> Network...In the URL for 'SAP BI Platform' we see the value is http://devservername:6405/bipwrs instead of http://bilumira-dev.

I quickly check the general.persistent file in .sapvi -> preferences and found the dnsalias has been resolved to the server name http://devservername:6405/biprws

Can someone advise what is happening.

Hello Aravind,

Can you please log in to your bilumira-qa's CMC, then go to Applications -> SAP Lumira -> Properties tab, and check the "SAP BI server" configuration. I believe the URL has been set to http://devservername:6405/bipwrs there.

After setting up the lumiraGovernance.properties file, upon every startup of Lumira Desktop, the application is going to contact the BI Platform via the restful web service url defined in the properties file (in your case it is http://bilumira-qa.xyx.com:6405/biprws) to retrieve Desktop Governance settings, which are defined by your BI Platform administrator in CMC -> Applications -> SAP Lumira -> Properties area.

Therefore, if your admin has defined the SAP BI Server URL to be "http://devservername:6405/bipwrs" in CMC, instead of "http://bilumira-qa.xyx.com:6405/biprws", then your Lumira Desktop Preferences will be overwritten with the value from CMC.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, you are right. The url is defined in the CMC -> Applications -> SAP Lumira -> Properties area. But can you also help me understand the below -

• The resturl is listed in properties area of both RESTful Web Service and SAP Lumira. What is the difference between these?
• What happens if the LumiraGovernance.Properties file is not available? How are the values picked?

A: They are basically the same, except that the one in "SAP Lumira" is for Lumira Desktop Governance settings. The one in "Restful Web Services" is the base URL for all Restful web services request to the BI Platform.

Q: What happens if the LumiraGovernance.Properties file is not available? How are the values picked?

A: If the file does not exist under "C:\Users\<user>\.sapvi\", then the Lumira Desktop is not "governed" by a BI Platform, it will not receive the following settings defined in the BI Platform:

1. The type of data source a user can import from
2. The type of destination a user can export to
3. The value of SAP Lumira Server, SAP Lumira Cloud and SAP BI Platform URLs, and whether or not the end-users can modify them
4. How updates are handled
