Assign HU (Non-Assigned) to Shipment

Hello Experts,

I have seen couple of threads on this issue but didn't get final answer.

Is it possible to assign previously created HU directly to Shipment? Am able to assign it to delivery, but when am assigning to shipment getting error '

HU XXXXX is assigned to an object that cannot be processed here. Message no. HUDIALOG155

We have a requirement to Pre-Create HUs in HU02 (or) HUPAST, first followed by assigning them to Shipment. Is this possible in Standard? If not, did anyone developed custom code (Exit / BADI) to overcome this issue?

Good day.

Actually, it isn't possible to assign the non-assigned HU to shipment level.

This is because, that there are complex obstacles to pack non-assigned HUs with shipment document which can't be easily abolished by a simple code correction. Especially, the known goods movement processes with non-assigned resp. inventory-managed HUs would cause a lot of development effort to make them also run properly on shipment level. There, we have usually HUs which contain more than one delivery. For example, if we would allow HUM within the shipment application, we have to ensure that delivery 1 is posted GI, whereas delivery 2 is not. But they both are part of the shipments HU etc.
