Hi,
I want to synchronize our Central SLD with Solution Manager for the Configuration of PI Monitoring .
I have read the below blog,
However i have doubt whether Central SLD which contains PI domain data is different from the PI SLD .
Do PI SLD seperately exists for PI system apart from Central SLD. If so how to identify and differentiate the PI SLD from Central SLD .
Please clarify my doubt .

Hi Varsha,
If you have your PI domain data content in central SLD and IF this is your feeder system for LMDB, then YES you will have your PI domain content in LMDB as well.
If your PI system itself is your central SLD that is feeding data to LMDB ,generally a full automatic synchronization is used by LMDB to import all SLD system information which means all your domain data is available to LMDB and in-turn to your PI Mon application.
But (there is always a but ) consider this situation, if you have multiple PI systems in your landscape and you want to setup a central PI Mon in SolMan ??????
you can still feed your LMDB with multiple source SLD , this WILL have to be done ONLY if the information about the technical systems does not overlap in the individual SLDs of your PI systems (which is generally not the case, because PI uses its own SLD to function and the PI consultant requests for all the system information in your landscape to be available in the PI SLD and imagine you synch. all these data to LMDB, which will end up in overwrites and old values present in LMDB becoz LMDB does not have ranking to control this behaviour).
So it all boils downs to SLD designing or enhancement of your current SLD design to achieve the value adds of central PI Mon in SolMan.
You can refere to Wolf Hengevoss blog contents to understand SLD architecture and utilize those in your case.
Hope I have made a point.

Hi Dilip,
Thank you for your informative post .
In My case , i can see Solution Manager LMDB is already synchronized with Solman Local SLD . But unfortunately that Solman Local SLD does not have information about PI Domain Data .
In our Landscape PI Domain data is present and synchronized with the Central SLD of our Landscape
So my doubt is that should i perform Synchronization between our Central SLD and LMDB while the Release level of our Central SLD is NetWeaver 7.31 and for Solution Manager is
SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1 or should i go for Export/Import between Central SLD and Solution Manager
Kindly please clarify my doubts to proceed further .
Thanks and Regards,
K Karna Muhil
Not sure what was the idea of your landscape design , but in generic ways we may not use local SLD of SolMan.
As i said if your central SLD is your PI system, you can directly use it with LMDB (but you have to be sure about the principle path rule).
question is
1. how is the local SLD supplied data ?
2. is there a synch between your local and central SLD?
If you want to use the local sld then use the utility attached to Note#1631346 and merge the individual PI configurations to the active namespace of the local SLD (you can consider to backup your CIM instances), assuming you already have your system technical data being pushed by data supplier.
With this you will be able to aggregate the PI configuration data to your local SLD in turn will be available for your LMDB.
PLEASE CONSIDER YOUR LANDSCAPE DATA IN LMDB BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE ABOVE.

Dillip
